Betwixt 2024
Betwixt 2024 is the final publication of the Freelands Artist Programme (2022–24). As in the previous two volumes, Betwixt features 20 artists from across the UK that are each paired with their chosen writer reflecting upon their distinctive practices.
The visual language adopts lines and curves that resemble the journey of discovery and learning, of doing and undoing. The book is mainly set in Dialogue Danny by Manuel von Gebhardi, alongside Courier Sans by Lineto used for captions and additional texts.
Betwixt has been designed with interactivity in mind: Playful stickers enable readers to engage with artworks and personalise each publication. Questions and prompts are scattered throughout as an invitation to pause, reflect, and respond. Lara Eggleton’s toolkit provides an activity for expressing creative ideas, and Sarah Taylor-Silverwood’s illustrations capture the experiences and advice of Freelands’ four partner organisations.
