Piet Zwart Institute: Binder
Binder is an online publication and serves as the digital archive of activities, experiences, and projects that take place over the course of the 2-year Master Fine Art program at the Piet Zwart Institute. Loosely covering an academic year, each issue contains an editorial note, features and articles devoted to research, writing, exhibitions and educational projects.
As the name was inspired by open shelves of carefully-labelled, black-bound ring binders occupying the MFA office, we further drew on this notion of filing and organizing. We created a website that allows for different types of access — a more systematic one based on a color-coded tab navigation, and a more intuitive one based on chronological superimposition. The use of a muted, pastel color palette, sticky notes and indices recall the tactile nature and heydays of filing cabinets and paper.
