How Is Public Time?
School of Temporalities
School of Temporalities (SoT), convened by artists Maja Bekan, Annette Krauss, and Julia Wieger, were invited for the exhibition If Time Is Still Alive at Camera Austria, Graz. Because of Covid-19, they had to change their original plan. Instead of being physically present in Graz, they met with twelve Graz-based women of different ages and backgrounds for online conversations over the course of a year.
The posters are a compilation of these conversations on the experience of time, working patterns, and not-knowing during this first year of Covid-19, and serve as a script for a re-enacted conversation on time.
Language barriers in those conversations necessitated the chat function for translations. The design makes reference to message interfaces, reflecting the rather peculiar process the conversations emerged through. They inevitably involve gaps and misunderstandings, that leave room for interpretation.
