Verses After Dusk
Lynette Yiadom-Boakye
Published on the occasion of Lynette Yiadom-Boakye’s 2015 show at the Serpentine Gallery, London, this small hardback was conceived to present the wider scope of her work. Alongside her paintings, Yiadom-Boakye is a passionate writer of short stories. She creates mysterious fictional characters that emerge on both the page and the canvas.
Flanked by formal essays on her practice, Yiadom-Boakey’s lyrical poems and fable-like short stories, are the center section of the book. They are printed on a heavy, cream paper introduced by a series of the artist’s delicate etchings. The midnight blue shades of the cover material, endpapers and headband harmonize with the reproductions and set the mood for her writings.
